Dr. Joshua Feder is a child and family psychiatrist with a private practice in Solana Beach, California and Executive Medical Director at Positive Development, providing affordable developmental relationship-based support for autistic children and their families nationwide. He is the father of an autistic son and the son of an autistic father. Dr Feder co-authored the first American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Practice Parameter on the Assessment and Treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder in 1999 and the field defining Developmental Relationship Based Interventions for Autistic Children in 2024. Dr. Feder teaches and conducts research on autism care, support and employability with Positive Development, UCSD, SDSU, Fielding Graduate University, and the National Foundation for Autism Research. Dr Feder helps run Inclusion Is, the only active antibullying program certified by the State of California Department of Education. Dr Feder is engaged in software development supporting social communication and using video analysis for functional support. As Editor in Chief at The Carlat Child Psychiatry Report, Dr. Feder co-authored The Child Medication Fact Book for Psychiatric Practice (2023) and Prescribing Psychotropics (2021), guiding responsible medication use.
